Kariobangi Sharks coach Seda fuming after Leopards draw

Kariobangi Sharks assistant coach Edward Seda was left fuming after his side threw away a 1-0 lead to draw 1-1 with AFC Leopards in their FKF Premier League clash at Kasarani on Sunday.

Seda, standing in for William Muluya who is away with the Junior Stars at the Cecafa U17 Championships, claimed Leopards were “lucky to get a draw,” insisting Sharks’ game plan collapsed after scorer Humphrey Aroko was forced off injured.

Aroko had handed Sharks an eighth-minute lead, capitalising on a defensive mix-up to beat goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi.

His exit, Seda explained, disrupted their structure. “He helped us keep the ball and release our forwards. After his injury, we had to change to an out-and-out striker,” he said. Despite their relegation-zone position, Seda maintained: “We have just not been winning games but everything else is okay.”

AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani, meanwhile, hailed forward Victor Omune for levelling the match in the 61st minute with a well-timed header from a James Kinyanjui freekick. The goal continued Omune’s impressive record against Sharks, having now scored five of Leopards’ last seven goals against them. But Ambani was far less impressed with the officiating, accusing the referees of having a “fixed mind.”

Leopards, backed by a vocal fan base demanding a return to winning ways, pushed hard for a late winner, with substitute Julius Masaba coming close. Sharks, however, created their own chances, including a near miss by Markvivian Kesa and two late freekicks that failed to hit the target.

The draw leaves Sharks 17th on seven points, while Leopards sit third with 14, heading into a pressure-filled Mashemeji Derby against Gor Mahia on a three-match winless run.
