Dr Oluga made the remarks during a visit to Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital in Nairobi, where he held discussions focused on advancing specialised eye care services and improving overall healthcare delivery through strategic collaboration between the public and private sectors.
The engagement highlighted the complementary role played by private health institutions in expanding access to quality and efficient medical services, particularly in specialised areas such as ophthalmology, where demand continues to grow.
During the visit, the Principal Secretary was received by Dr Manila Dodhia, Dr Samson Ndegwa, and Ms Rizwana Peerbhoy, who briefed him on the hospital’s operations, ongoing programmes, and contribution to eye care services in Kenya.
The Ministry of Health reiterated its commitment to deepening collaboration with private sector players as part of broader efforts to achieve equitable, accessible, and high-quality healthcare services under the Universal Health Coverage agenda.
