Five security personnel have been killed following a roadside bomb attack in Arabia, Mandera County.

The casualties include four officers from the elite Special Operations Group (SOG) and one National Police Reservist (NPR).

According to local authorities, the officers were on a routine security patrol when their vehicle struck a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted along the main supply route.

The blast destroyed the vehicle instantly, killing the five on the spot. Security reinforcements have been deployed to the area to pursue the attackers, who are believed to have fled toward the nearby border.

No group has claimed immediate responsibility for the ambush. However, the region has faced a history of frequent cross-border attacks orchestrated by Al-Shabaab militants targeting security forces and vital infrastructure.

Mandera County security officials confirmed the incident, saying investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
