Four killed, 2 seriously injured in Narok-Mai Mahiu road crash

The 7:00pm incident involving four vehicles occurred near Maltauro area about 40 kilometres from Narok town. The area is a well-known blacks pot.
According to an eyewitness Benson Mutua, the accident happened after a trailer speeding downhill from Nairekie Enkare lost control, colliding head on with an incoming lorry before it burst into flames.
Mutua added that, following the impact the trailer disentangled from the driver’s cabin before hurtling several meters onto the tarmac.
The trailer which was ferrying tea leaves was heading to Nairobi while the lorry was going to Narok before the accident occurred.
Others vehicles involved in the accident were a pick-up and a Toyota Axio which were also burnt.
Police officers and members of the public who responded to the accident had a hard time sorting through the mangled wreckage to retrieve the bodies of the deceased and save the injured.
The injured were rushed to the Narok County Referral hospital with sources within the hospital saying they are in stable condition.
The bodies of the deceased were moved the referral hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem.A
At the same time, the wrecked vehicles were towed to the Duka Moja Police Station in Narok East sub county.
Last week six lives were lost on the same spot with area residents calling on relevant authorities to remove speed bumps in the area.
