Thogori Karago, a former LinkedIn
senior employee, was found dead at a Nairobi hotel on Friday last week.
The 33-year old, who doubled up
as a Senior Software Engineer and Product Manager at the company, was found
lifeless in a room at the Radisson Blu hotel.
Kilimani police boss Muturi Mbogo
confirmed the incident saying the deceased was alone at the time of her demise,
but preliminary investigations indicated that she was suffering from diabetes.
“There are indications she was
diabetic, but that is subject to further investigations. For now, we take it to
be natural and sudden death,” Mbogo said.
Until her death, Karago was also
a start-up founder, angel investor, consultant, and board member for six companies.
According to her LinkedIn profile
where most of her early life was documented, she was on the leadership
committee at AIESEC Malaysia, she was also a graduate teaching assistant
at Carnegie Mellon College and was an advisory board member at Xerox.
Between 2014 and 2018, Thogori served
as the Head of Research and Development at LinkedIn Africa.
She was responsible for
overseeing LinkedIn’s growth on the African continent, in line with the
company’s vision to create economic opportunities for every member of the
global workforce.
