Form 3 student dies, another seriously injured after matatu rams bike in Kakamega

A Form 3 student at St. Monica Lubao Secondary School died on Wednesday after he was hit by a matatu at the Okumu shopping centre in Lurambi, Kakamega County as he was riding a motorcycle home from school.

Witnesses say the deceased was riding on the Kakamega-Webuye highway with his friend who was seriously injured in the accident.

The two were diverting into a nearby fuel station when the matatu hit their motorbike from behind.

Area residents have called on the government to erect speed bumps on the road, saying the section of the road has seen several tragic accidents before.
