Five schools closed in Baringo over banditry attacks

Kosile, Ngaratuko, Kibenos, Kagir and Yatya primary schools closed after a series of attacks in the area which saw two people killed including Kagir Primary School head teacher. 

According to reports, bandits from the neighbouring Tiaty constituency killed a 59-year-old man on Wednesday when they attacked Yatya village forcing locals to flee for safety.

Speaking to the media after visiting victims of banditry who are still recuperating at Baringo Referral Hospital, Baringo North MP Joseph Makilap said the situation is getting out of hand urging the government to immediately stop the attacks.

This year, eight people have so far been killed in Baringo North and Baringo South by bandits with locals' hopes on the government to quell the attacks already fading.

A National Police Reservist became the latest victim after bandits attacked three people on a motorbike in Nasokuro, Baringo South. Two sustained injuries in the attack.
