The KCB Group PLC reported a Ksh.49.3 billion gross profit for the first half of 2026, driven by strong income growth and disciplined cost management.

Equating it to a 20.8% rise, KCB said that its total assets grew by 16.8% to Ksh.2.3 trillion, driven by Ksh.1.7 trillion in customer deposits and gross loans of Ksh.1.3 trillion.

Likewise, the Board has declared a distribution of Ksh.9.64 billion in dividends as interim dividends rose to Ksh.3.00 per share, a 50% increase from Ksh.2.00 per share paid in 2025.

Group Chief Executive Officer Paul Russo said the move reflects its commitment to build a solid regional footprint and uphold confidence in customers.

"Despite a tough operating environment, we remain committed to supporting businesses and households, accelerating digital transformation and creating long-term sustainable value for our shareholders and the communities which we serve," said Russo.

The Group stated that its regional banking subsidiaries contributed to 27.7% of the profit and accounted for 31.1% of the total balance sheet.

It added that the total income increased to Ksh.108.1 billion, comprising non-funded income which rose to Ksh.34.1 billion, while funded income rose to Ksh.74.0 billion.

KCB's asset quality also maintained steady improvements as gross Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) reduced by 17.3 billion to a low of Ksh.203.8 billion.

The Group said the record has been mainly supported by discipline in credit risk management and the rehabilitation of distressed facilities.

It added: "The Group maintained a healthy funding profile, with the loan-to-deposit ratio improving to 78.8% from 79.5% while Return on Assets (ROA) remained stable at 3.3%, demonstrating continued balance sheet resilience and efficient asset utilization."

Shareholders also benefited from an equity growth of 16.3% from Ksh.306.8 billion in 2025 to Ksh.357.0 billion.
