Ex-Oilers Star Salah Joins BC Premiership champions Burnaby Lake Rugby Club

Salah left the Menengai Oilers in February 2024, bringing to a close a decade of service to the Nakuru club, where he was regarded as one of their most dependable backs. Soon after, he headed to Ontario, signing for St. George’s London.

His impact was immediate: seven tries in eleven games and a hand in steering the club to the Marshall Championship crown.

That breakout season turned heads across Canada, with Burnaby Lake moving quickly to secure his signature. For the 27-year-old, the switch represents both growth and a chance to test himself at the highest level of Canadian rugby.

“Walking away from Oilers was never easy because that club is family. But rugby is about stepping forward, and Canada has given me that opportunity,” he said.

“St. George’s helped me settle in, and now joining a big side like Burnaby Lake is a dream. I want to give everything and continue flying the Kenyan flag out here.”

Odhiambo wasted no time in making an impression. He debuted in a dramatic 30–30 draw against UBC last weekend, crossing the whitewash once and earning man-of-the-match recognition in his first appearance.
