Enwealth Foundation awards scholarships to 412 students

Enwealth Foundation has awarded scholarships to 412 secondary school students from 77 schools across 46 counties, committing Sh15.1 million to support their education over the next three years.

The scholarships will cover tuition and other school-related expenses, easing the financial burden on the beneficiaries’ families and helping the students remain in school through secondary education.

The new beneficiaries were presented with scholarship certificates during a ceremony at the Enwealth Business Centre, where former Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) chairperson Lyn Mengich said sustained investment in education was important in expanding opportunities for young people.

“Education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives and building a more equitable society,” Mengich said.

She said the three-year support would provide the students with greater financial stability as they pursue their studies.

The latest cohort brings to 1,436 the number of students who have benefited from the Enwealth Foundation scholarship programme. Previous cohorts supported 1,023 students, with more than Sh92 million awarded before the latest commitment.

Enwealth Financial Services chief executive Simon Wafubwa said continued support for students could create opportunities for beneficiaries and their families.

“Every cohort we support reinforces the importance of consistent investment in education,” Wafubwa said.

Enwealth Foundation executive director John K. Monyoncho said the scholarship programme was intended to help students from financially constrained backgrounds remain in school and complete their secondary education.

“At Enwealth Foundation, we believe that education is a powerful pathway to opportunity and long-term transformation,” Monyoncho said.

The scholarship programme provides financial support throughout the beneficiaries’ secondary school education and is part of the foundation’s education initiatives targeting students facing financial barriers to schooling.
