Gachagua claims Ruto on mission to trade Kenya's minerals in New York

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua is now accusing President William Ruto of a plot to sell Niobium deposits worth trillions of shillings to a foreign firm.

Gachagua claims the mineral deposits in Mrima Hills in Kwale County have been granted to foreign firms, at the expense of the local population, who languish in poverty, calling for vigilance from the public.

During an engagement in Kansas City, he claimed that President Ruto’s mission in New York, beyond attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, is to firm up contractual agreements with American firms to exploit niobium deposits worth trillions of shillings in Kwale County.

The DCP leader said that the President is a direct beneficiary of the mineral deal, and that his UNGA attendance is a smokescreen to wrap up the deal.

Gachagua's claims came two weeks after Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho told Citizen TV that no licences had been granted for mining in Mrima Hills, which is also subject to a petition at the High Court.

Gachagua’s forum also featured next year’s polls, assuring Kenyans in America of commitment to opposition unity, and that attempts by the President to wedge division among opposition principles have failed so far.

The DCP boss is on a visit to the USA, presiding over engagements across different cities, amplifying calls for opposition unity to unseat President William Ruto next year.
