Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois criticised racist chants aimed at team-mate Vinicius Junior by Albacete fans near their stadium before a Copa del Rey last 16 clash on Wednesday.

The Belgian goalkeeper, not involved in Madrid's cup tie against the second-tier side, shared a video of a group of fans appearing to chant racist abuse at Vinicius on Instagram and wrote "enough of the racism, this is disgusting".

Brazilian winger Vinicius, 25, has been targeted with racial abuse during his time in Spain on several occasions by opposition fans.

Four Atletico Madrid ultras were handed suspended jail sentences in June last year for hanging a dummy of Vinicius from a bridge in what police deemed a "hate crime", among several other court convictions.

Vinicius started the game against Albacete, new Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa's first match at the helm after he replaced Xabi Alonso on Monday.
