President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, has commended a new crop of student and youth leaders from all 47 counties for what she described as their “brave, mature and objective-driven” approach to leadership and national discourse.

In a social media post shared on Monday, Charlene revealed that she had held a session with the young leaders - whom she said represent millions of youth across the country - and praised them for stepping up to lead beyond mere online activism and temporary trends.

“These young leaders represent millions of young people across the country,” she wrote on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

“They have decided to step up and provide objective-driven representation, structured dialogues and alternative engagement methods that offer real, lasting solutions - not just temporary hype, likes, and short-lived attention.”

The visibly inspired Charlene ended her post with an enthusiastic rallying call: “Viva comrades!! I am proud of your courage, maturity and leadership.”

Her remarks come at a time of growing frustration among Kenya’s youth over unemployment, cost of living, and limited political inclusion - concerns that have recently spilled onto the streets in form of nationwide protests led by Gen Z movements.

Charlene, who has carved out a niche in youth engagement and community outreach, has continuously emphasized the importance of structured conversations and peaceful advocacy.

This latest show of solidarity is expected to further stir debate over the role of youth in shaping Kenya’s political and socio-economic future, especially in the wake of the generational awakening currently unfolding across the country.
