President William Ruto on Sunday took his Tutam gospel to the larger Gusii region, starting off at Nyamaiya stadium in Nyamira where he laid bare his development track record, urging residents to consider him for another term in office.

At the same time, the president hit back at his critics, insisting his administration has achieved a lot in the four years he has been in office, compared to some of the past administrations.

Ruto said he will extend the expansion of the Rironi-Mau Summit to Gusii region and to Kisumu, so that the region is not left behind in development.

"We've decided that we will extend the Rironi-Mau Summit carriageway to Kericho, Kisii and to Kisumu and to Malaba so that this region can experience economic growth," Ruto said.

The president also promised a number of goodies to the residents, including expansion of road networks, modernising tea factories and employing more teachers from the Gusii region.

Ruto said his administration will built 180 kilometres of roads in Nyamira county. These include the Tombe-Magombo road, Eronge road, Amabuko-Manga road, Manga-Mote Momwamu road and Kemera-Keumbu road.

"We are extending the SGR from Naivasha through Mawawa here in Nyamira to Kisumu and Malaba border. We've set aside over Ksh.15B for road expansion in Nyamira county alone," Ruto said.

The president said over 381k residents of Nyamira have registered for SHA, translating to 65%.

On agriculture, he said his administration will modernise tea factories in the region so that local farmers are not left behind as their peers from other regions benefit.

"We will expand electricity connections to our factories here in Nyamira so that they become modern and the farmers here can also get the benefits others are getting," Ruto said.

The president also said he will build a stadium in Nyamira at a cost of KSh.1B shillings, and promised to have the Gusii stadium in Kisii completed by April next year, to host independence day celebrations.

Ruto further promised to expand the Nyamira Hospital to Level 5 status, injecting KSh.1.7B to that course, and another KSh.1.7B for the expansion of the Kisii Level 6 hosiptal.

The president hit out at his critics, saying they have no plan and cautioned Kenyans against gambling the leadership of the country.
