Buoyed by a 16-0 demolition of Sudan in their opening Cecafa Under-17 match on Saturday, Kenya Junior Starlets return to the pitch Monday afternoon aiming to pick up from where they left, this time Somalia being their target.

The match kicks off at 4PM, at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with the Kenyans aiming for maximum points.

“It was a very nice match. The girls really performed more so in the first half. The second half due to medical reasons from Sudan which we understand, the welfare of the players has to come first and so even if the game ended prematurely we are still okay a team,” Kenyan coach Mildren Cheche, said of the opening game, pointing out the shortage of players faced by Sudan.

“The goals are important. It was important to score because we have been creating chances but not converting them, so it was good that we found the back of the net in that game”

Against Sudan Brenda Achieng scored a total of 7 goals while Fleviah Khatenje, Lindey Wee Atieno, Elizabeth Alizeba,Tabitha Wambui and Berverline Awuor scored a goal apiece while  Mwanakombo Bakari grabbed a brace.

Kenya are in Group ‘A’ alongside hosts Tanzania, Somalia and Sudan, while Group ‘B’ consists of Uganda, South Sudan and Djibouti.
