A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of defiling his 10-year-old granddaughter in Cheptais Sub-County, Bungoma County.

While delivering the judgment, Sirisia Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Raymond Lang’at ruled that the prosecution had proven its case against Benson Kitui Siyoi beyond any reasonable doubt.

The court noted that the evidence presented fully met the legal threshold required to secure a conviction.

As a result, the magistrate imposed the maximum sentence of life imprisonment, as provided for under Kenyan law for offences involving defilement of a minor.

Authorities urged members of the public to report all cases of child abuse and to actively support efforts aimed at safeguarding vulnerable children within communities.
