The body of a female university student was on Monday morning found floating in a river in the outskirts of Bomet town.

Police have identified the body as that of the 22-year-old Mary Ann Wangari, a fourth year student at the Bomet university.

The police said that the body was found floating in Chebirir area, in the raging waters of river Nyangores.

According to Bomet Central sub-county Deputy Police Commandant Ali Bashir, the Communication and Public relations student went missing last week on Tuesday.

“The body was discovered by a member of the public who proceeded to inform the police,” said Bashir.

“Our officers together with the school administration have begun recording statements from students who were last seen with the deceased as we embark on serious investigations,” said Bashir.

He also noted that the body had already started decomposing.

The body has been moved to Longisa County Referral hospital mortuary.
