Under interim head coach Razak Siwa, the Dockers head into the match with renewed confidence following a positive run of results and a refreshing end-of-year break.
Speaking after a training session, Siwa expressed satisfaction with his squad’s fitness and readiness.
“We agreed before the end-of-year break that everyone must return strong and fit. I’m happy that every player is in good shape and ready to push forward,” said Siwa.
“We are playing at home and must take advantage to secure maximum points. I urge our fans to turn up in large numbers and be our 12th player.”
Defender Sharif Majabe echoed his coach's sentiments, describing the fixture as a fresh start for the Mombasa-based side as they aim to climb the league standings.
“We are not in a good position on the KPL table, and that has to change,” Majabe noted. “We are working tirelessly to turn things around. As players, we have held meetings and set clear targets, and soon our fans will enjoy the results.”
Off the pitch, Bandari FC are expected to make changes to its technical bench, with Benard Mwalala set to be unveiled as the club’s new head coach next week.
This follows the departure of Moroccan tactician Mohammed Borji after a run of disappointing results.
Club spokesperson Ali Said has also rallied supporters to back the team in large numbers, highlighting efforts to grow the fan base across the region.
“Fans in Mombasa don’t always turn up in big numbers compared to our neighbours in Kwale County,” Said explained. “We plan to go deep into the villages to recruit more supporters by showing them that this is their team and it needs their support.”
He added that the club will continue with its online ticketing system, which has been well received by fans.
“Online ticketing has made entry into the stadium seamless, and we encourage our supporters to keep using it on match days.”
Bandari FC currently sit 13th on the Kenya Premier League table with 17 points after 14 matches.
