2025 KCSE results: 1,932 score A as 270,000 candidates secure direct entry to university

270,000 candidates who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations have scored a C+ and above, securing direct entry to university. 

According to President William Ruto, who was briefed on the release of the exam results by Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba, the figure represented 27 per cent of the total candidates (993,000). 

Further, 1,932 candidates scored grade A, representing the highest-performing cohort in the examination.

In comparison, 1,693 candidates scored grade A, while 246,391 candidates secured direct university entry in the KCSE 2024 exams. 

"At Eldoret State Lodge, Uasin Gishu County, briefed on the release of the 2025 KCSE Examinations to be released today," read a post from Ruto on X.

"We are impressed that out of the 993,000 candidates, 50 per cent of whom were girls, 270,000 attained C+ and above, securing a direct entry to university."

Following the briefing of the president, the Ministry is expected to release the exam results today at AIC Chebisas High School in Eldoret. 

The 2025 KCSE examinations were conducted from October 21 to November 21, 2025, with oral and practical assessments administered ahead of the written theory papers.

At the time, the Education Ministry reported that 418 candidates had engaged in exam malpractices, a decline compared to 614 candidates in 2024.
