Autopsy confirms hotel intern who fell from Upper Hill building died from multiple fractures

The post-mortem examination conducted at the Nairobi Funeral Home established that Wambui died on the spot following the fatal fall.

Sources familiar with the investigations have told Citizen TV that Wambui spent more than 40 minutes on the rooftop of the 34-storey building taking photographs before the incident.

Detectives who have reviewed CCTV footage from the building have ruled out any third-party involvement in her death.

Three days after learning of their daughter's death, Wambui's family and friends gathered at the Nairobi Funeral Home for the post-mortem examination, which was conducted in the presence of a family-appointed pathologist.

The findings confirmed the family's worst fears.

"We had our family doctor present during the post-mortem, and we have been informed that she indeed died from the fall. Almost every part of her body was fractured, although her head did not sustain any injuries," said Maina Gathogo, a relative.

With the autopsy now complete, the family says it is hoping detectives investigating the mysterious death will establish what transpired on the rooftop on Saturday night.

The sudden death has left the family devastated, with Wambui's dream of building a career in the hospitality industry cut short.

"Our prayer is that detectives from the DCI Kilimani continue with the investigations so they can establish what happened. If she jumped, we want to know what could have driven her to make such a decision," Gathogo said.

Sources close to the investigation who have reviewed CCTV footage from Altura Apartments told Citizen TV that Wambui entered the premises shortly after 8 p.m.

She was later captured on the rooftop, where she spent more than 40 minutes taking photographs while a security guard patrolled the area.

Investigators say that at one point she was seen standing at the edge of the rooftop. It is believed that shortly before the fall, the security guard on duty had briefly left the area to use the washroom.

That was reportedly the last time Wambui was seen alive.

"There is CCTV footage showing what transpired, and as a family we would like to be allowed to see it so that we can find closure and be satisfied with the findings," Gathogo said.

The family has since begun burial preparations as they await the conclusion of police investigations into the circumstances surrounding Wambui's death.
