Harambee Stars midfielder Duke Abuya continues to enjoy a rich vein of form after being named the Tanzanian Premier League Player of the Month for December, capping off an impressive run of performances for Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC.

Abuya’s influence during the month stood out despite Yanga playing only two league matches due to continental assignments.

In those games, the 31-year-old delivered decisively, registering two assists and producing commanding midfield displays.

His performance in a 2–0 victory over Fountain Gate earned him a Man of the Match award, underlining his control, vision, and leadership in the engine room.

In January 2026, Abuya was named Man of the Match in Yanga’s emphatic 6–0 win over Mashujaa FC, a game in which he also found the back of the net.

Earlier in the month, he received the same award following a narrow 1–0 victory in the Mapinduzi Cup, further highlighting his consistency across competitions.

Abuya’s rise at Yanga follows a successful journey through Tanzanian football. He initially joined the club on a season-long loan from Kenya Police FC in July 2024, after a previous loan spell at Singida Black Stars.

Following a trophy-laden 2024/25 season in which he helped Yanga win five titles, including the league crown, the club secured his services permanently with a two-year contract running until July 2027.

Beyond club football, Abuya remains a dependable figure for the Harambee Stars under head coach Benni McCarthy.

A regular squad member for World Cup qualifiers and friendly matches, he brings experience, versatility, and leadership, having even captained the side in a friendly against Equatorial Guinea in November 2025.

The Kenyan midfielder is expected to feature as Yanga face the Cairo-based side Al Ahly in a CAF Champions League group stage clash in Egypt tonight from 7PM.
