Reysha Nkatha is a vivacious 7-year-old pupil at St. Petroc Primary School at Runyenjes constituency in Embu County, whose journey from a toddler's dreams to a rising star in the world of modeling and environmental activism is nothing short of inspirational.

Nkatha’s story is one that highlights the power of nurturing a child's interests and talents. Born to Brenda Mwende, a doting mother who recognized her daughter's extraordinary potential from a young age, Nkatha’s journey began when she was just three years old.

“I noticed that my daughter had a passion for modelling when she was 3 years old,” Mwende told Wananchi Reporting.

“She would ask a lot of questions about modelling and beauty, unlike other kids who will talk about cartoons nonstop,” Mwende added.

At the tender age of 7, Reysha Nkatha has already made a name for herself in the world of modeling. Her list of accolades includes titles such as "Little Miss Universe Kenya (Prixie)," "Mini Miss Environment 1st Runner-Up Kenya," and "Little Miss Environment Embu County." Nkatha’s charisma and confidence on the runway have captured the hearts of many, earning her the "Best Kid Tharaka Nithi Got Talent 2023-2024" and "Green Kids Awards 2nd Runner-Up 2023."

Behind Reysha Nkatha's remarkable journey stands her dedicated trainer, Sam Sleek, hailing from Ndagani, Chuka, Tharaka Nithi constituency. Sam Sleek's commitment and expertise have played an instrumental role in honing Nkatha, helping her achieve the remarkable success she enjoys today.

Nkatha’s passion extends beyond the runway. She is an ardent ballet enthusiast, often seen pirouetting and twirling with grace. Her dedication to ballet not only showcases her discipline and dedication but also her love for artistic expression.

Nkatha, is also on a mission to protect the environment she loves. She leads a project dedicated to planting trees and collecting plastic bottles to create eco-friendly decorations, aptly named "Save Mother Nature." This initiative reflects her deep commitment to preserving the beauty of our planet and instilling the importance of environmental conservation in her community.

“I really love planting trees during holidays, people should plant trees to save mother nature.” Nkatha said.

“I also collect plastic bottles to make decorations and also toys, people should avoid plastic pollution as it is not good.” Nkatha added.

Despite her young age, Nkatha has clear ambitions for the future. She aspires to be a nurse, with dreams of helping people in hospitals and providing care and comfort during their times of need. Her desire to make a positive impact on others' lives is truly remarkable for someone so young.

Nkatha also harbors a fascination with the world of makeup artistry. She envisions herself as a future makeup artist who can make people feel beautiful inside and out. Her diverse interests highlight her multifaceted personality and her desire to explore various avenues of self-expression and service to others.

Behind every young star, there's a strong support system. Brenda Mwende, Nkatha’s mother, has played a pivotal role in nurturing her daughter's talents. Recognizing Nkatha’s modeling potential at age 3, Mwende has been her guiding light, offering unwavering support and encouragement. She has been Nkatha’s biggest cheerleader, attending every event and competition with pride.

“My mum has played a very big role in my journey and I love her so much” Nkatha stated.

Nkatha's journey is a testament to the boundless potential that young minds hold when given the opportunity to explore their passions. Mwende, encourages mothers to support their children to build their talents.

“I would really encourage parents to support and build their children’s talents, could be football, skating or any talent they have.” Mwende stated.
