French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Nairobi for the Africa Forward Summit, which he will be co-hosting alongside President William Ruto.

Macron was received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Sunday by the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi.

The Foreign Affairs CS was accompanied by his Health counterpart, Aden Duale and Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Geoffrey Ruku.

The Summit, the first to be hosted in an Anglophone country, is set to convene leaders, innovators, and policymakers from across the continent to chart new pathways for investment, innovation, peace, and global cooperation.

Earlier, President William Ruto held talks with other Heads of State, including President Joseph Boakai of Liberia, President Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire, President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone and  African Development Bank Group President Sidi Ould Tah.

The discussions focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in trade, agriculture, education, and technology among African countries.

The discussions were also centred on people-to-people exchanges for the mutual benefit of individual countries.
