Gor Mahia clinched the 2015 Kenya Premier League title after beating Sony Sugar 1-0 in a midweek clash played at Nyayo National Stadium.

The win places Gor Mahia in the history books, taking home their 15th title, and stretching their unbeaten record to 27 matches.

With four matches to play, Gor Mahia have amassed 66 points, placing them beyond reach for second-placed Ulinzi Stars who have 51 points.

Even if they win all the remaining matched, Ulinzi can gain a maximum 12 points putting them at 63 points.

Kogalo got their goal through Innocent Wafula in the 37th minute, pouncing on Godfrey Walusimbi’s cross from the left to slot it past Sony keeper Allan Owiny. Both teams held their own to go to the break at 1-0.

The second half started on a high with Gor Mahia pushing for a second as Sony held back to avoid conceding another goal.

As the game proceeded, Sony Sugar got a footing in the game with Amos Asembeka and Andrew Sekayombya causing Gor backline problems.

Kogalo would have sealed the win with a second goal but their attempt was blocked by the Sony keeper.

Focus now turns to the relegation zone where Mathare United, Chemelil Sugar, KCB, Nairobi City Stars and Nakuru All Stars are all staring at the exit, having garnered a mere 30 points, 27, 22, 21 and 18 points respectively from 26 matches.
