Win for pastor Ezekiel as bank accounts are unfrozen

On Monday, the court was told that five banks; Cooperative, NCBA, Equity, KCB and HFC complied with the order allowing investigations into the preacher’s various accounts.  

While being cross-examined by Lawyer Danstan Omari, Inspector Martin Munene told the court that from the documentation received none of the bank accounts is in the name of pastor Ezekiel. 

Instead, all accounts were either for the church or the school.

Pastor Ezekiel is now free to access his accounts after a 15-day period issued by court lapsed. 

Earlier, the DCI had asked court to extend orders freezing the accounts to allow Safaricom to comply with the orders. 

"The applicant cannot complete investigations in the absence of information sought from the 6th respondent –Safaricom," the court was told.
