Two killed, one seriously injured in accident on Thika Superhighway
Two pillion passengers died on Tuesday while a motorcyclist sustained grievous injuries following a road accident involving a motorcycle and probox at Ndaragu junction in Juja, Kiambu County.
Police say that the probox, suspected to have been speeding, was en route to Nairobi from Thika when it collided head-on with the motorcycle which was headed in the opposite direction.
Eyewitnesses say that the motorcyclist seemingly miscalculated the distance between his motorbike and the probox as well as the speed the vehicle was moving at when he attempted to overtake another car.
His error would prove fatal as the motorcycle collided head-on with the probox killing the two pillion passengers on the spot.
The motorcyclist was rushed to Thika Level V Hospital for treatment while the bodies of the deceased persons were moved to General Kago Morgue for storage and identification.
The wreckages of both the motorcycle and probox were towed to Juja Police Station pending inspection.
Commenting on the incident, Juja Sub-County police commander, Phyllis Muthoni noted that such accidents can be avoided if motorists exercise caution while driving.
“Let us be careful on our roads, we understand students are going back to school and we don’t have to rush, let us arrive alive,” she told Citizen Digital.
