Two former National Youth Service (NYS) employees have been charged and convicted for conspiring to defraud the state agency of Ksh.791 million in 2015.

Hendrick Nyongesa Pilisi and Samuel Wachenje were presented before the Milimani Law Courts on Thursday.

Pilisi faced charges of forgery and breach of trust by a person employed in public service, while Wachenje was charged solely with breaching public trust.

"Hendrick Nyongesa Pilisi was found guilty of making a false document contrary to Section 347(a) as read with Section 349 of the Penal Code, as well as breach of trust by a person employed in public service contrary to Section 127(1) as read with Section 127(2) of the Penal Code," the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said in an X statement.

"Samuel Wachenje was also convicted of breach of trust under the same provisions."

The duo's sentencing has been scheduled for November 6, 2024.
