A joint operation led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles connected to the death of three National Police Reservists (NPR) in Isiolo North Sub-County, Isiolo County.

Officers from DCI's Crime Scene Investigations(CSI) team and the General Service Unit (GSU) in Kipsing found the rifles with empty magazines and are believed to have been used in the brutal murder of the NPR officers.

According to the DCI, the officers from Igembe North, Meru County, were fatally shot by armed raiders on April 7, 2025, prompting a manhunt.

"This breakthrough was made possible through collaboration between our elite teams, members of the public, the local administration and DCI Igembe North who has taken over investigations as the case remains under probe," wrote DCI in a statement.

The crime investigative branch says more details shall be made public, pending further probe.
