Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has issued a stern warning against the Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu for what he terms as failing to effect the leadership changes made in Jubilee party.

The Azimio boss contested the decision made by the Nderitu to uphold the expulsion of Jeremiah Kioni and David Murathe, arguing that the party had already effected new changes in its leadership during a National Delegates Conference (NDC) held on Monday.

Speaking during a food distribution exercise to flood victims in Alego Usonga on Tuesday, he demanded that the new changes should be made official and that the Jeremiah Kioni-led faction be recognized as the Jubilee party heads.

"We will not accept the interference of the government in the running of affairs of parties that are in the Azimio coalition," he said.

"We therefore urge the registrar to move with speed and register the new officials of Jubilee party failure to which there will be consequences."

Nderitu on Tuesday confirmed that Kioni and  Murathe are officially expelled from the party, adding that the Kanini Kega-led team is the rightful team to spearhead operations in the party.

Kioni and Murathe had written to the Office of Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) after the Kanini Kega-led Jubilee faction expelled them last week.

The standoff in the former ruling party led by ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta has intensified after Kega’s team elected new party leadership.

They appointed nominated MP Sabina Chege as Jubilee Party leader to replace Kenyatta.

Kioni, Murathe and treasurer Kagwe Gichochi were dismissed on grounds of gross misconduct, failing to respect the party's organs and not respecting the party's headquarters.

Kioni’s team has remained adamant and insists that the expulsion by Kega violates the law.
