Raila announces 4 nomination processes ODM will use ahead of 2022 elections
Odinga said the strategies among them negotiations among candidates will aid the party to consolidate its support as well as operate within the right democratic channels.
On negotiations, Odinga said aspiring candidates will be allowed to negotiate among themselves and endorse one of them.
The other process will involve party members going to the polling stations to nominate their preferred candidates to contest in the general elections.
He said a membership card will be a paramount requirement for one to take part in the nominations.
"Mpaka uwe na membership card ya chama cha ODM ndio utakubaliwa kushiriki kupiga kura na kuteuliwa," Odinga said.
The third process will be the use of party delegates picked from different regions to nominate the preferred candidate on behalf of members.
Lastly, Odinga said the party could employ direct nomination in cases where all other processes fail to work.
Odinga also drummed up support for his 'Azimio la Umoja' call, saying unity will be critical for the party ahead of next year's elections.
"Mpaka sisi kwanza tujihadhari, tujue kwamba tunaenda vitani na tusahau vita tulizo nazo na wenzetu na tuwe na umoja kama chama moja," Odinga said.
He was speaking at an ODM leaders' meeting in Kwale on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, Dr Macharia urged Kenyans to elect leaders based on their experience and integrity.
"Let us elect our leaders from experience without a personal interest. Raila has nobody to divide the cabinet with, so he will select the people who will help the people," he said.
Also present were Siaya Senator James Orengo, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed among other leaders.
The ODM chief is set to hold a major rally in Ukunda later on Tuesday.
