President William Ruto will today Sunday jet out to Rome, Italy, to participate in the Italy-Africa Summit.

In a communique from State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed, Ruto will be attending the summit in his capacity as the Chair of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC), where he will also be expected to deliver an address on energy security during the summit.

This year’s summit’s theme is "A Bridge for Common Growth"

Ruto will be joining other 20 heads of state to discuss crucial areas of collaboration, including food security, culture, education, vocational training, energy security, economic and infrastructure development, and combating human trafficking and terrorism.

The leaders, Mohamed added, will review agreements reached during Italy’s President Mattarella's State Visit to Kenya last year and in subsequent meetings with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Ruto is also set to hold discussions with President Mattarella to foster bilateral cooperation.

“Projects formed through the collaboration between Italy and Kenya will be expedited including programmes in environmental conservation, climate change resilience, water, education, health, energy and culture,” said Mohamed.

Ruto’s visit will also involve forming bilateral engagements with European Union (EU) leaders, World Bank and IMF officials, and African leaders involved in peace processes in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) , Sudan and South Sudan.
