Chief of Defence Forces Robert Kibochi has urged Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers to work well with their counterparts as the first batch was deployed to a peace-keeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Speaking during the flagging-off ceremony at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Saturday, Kibochi said, "I wish you blessings as you are deployed. You are the arrowhead. Make sure you work well with your counterparts.

Kibochi reiterated Kenya's wide expertise and experience, adding that the officers are up to the task.

He urged the officers to obey the law of the land as they are deployed.

"We are known to follow the law wherever we go. Respect the chiefs of defence where you go,"Kibochi said.

President William Ruto last week ordered the deployment of 903 soldiers from KDF to join a regional peacekeeping mission - the East African Community Regional Force to the Democratic Republic of Congo (EACRF-DRC).

The Kenyan troops will join others from Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania on the mission in Eastern DRC to fight M23 rebels.
