Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and Tetu Member of Parliament James Gichuhi have defected to the Deputy President William Ruto-led UDA party from Jubilee.

Early Sunday, the Nyeri county boss who was among the leaders accompanying the second-in-command on a two -day tour of the region hinted at the move, claiming the Jubilee party has grown lonely.

The governor howevever fell short of making his defection clear, saying he will be headed to DP Ruto's Karen home where he will don the UDA colours and officially join the party.

Governor Kahiga said.

He was however welcomed to the party by DP Ruto made several stop overs in Kieni and Tetu on Sunday.

"Kahiga alikuwa amebaki peke yake kule Jubilee, tumemwambia akuje Kwa wira ni wira," DP   Ruto said on Sunday.

The latest comes just a day after four governors from Central Kenya announced their departure from the beleaguered Jubilee party.

Kiambu governor James Nyoro and his counterparts Francis Kimemia (Nyandarua) Lee Kinyanjui (Nakuru) and Ndiritu Muriithi (Laikipia) are expected to  unveil a political dream team on Saturday.

The leaders said the Party of National Unity(PNU) and Ubuntu Peoples Forum (UPF) are in talks to build a coalition ahead of the 2022 elections.
