Austine Chakua Nchogu, a form four student at Mwongori High School in Borabu was last seen in school on May 14th when he is reported to have had an altercation with the chemistry teacher before he excused himself to go to the washrooms.
“We were told that our child got lost on 20th but when I came to school, we discovered that our child got lost of date 14th,” said Mercy Kwamboka, Austine’s mother.
The family points an accusing finger at the school administration for failing to take quick action after he went missing and for failing to report he is absence to the police.
“We had not even been informed as his parents that our child was missing, which is heartbreaking,”
The family which has reported the matter at Matutu Police Station has called on anyone with information to reach out to the police or contact them directly.
“We are the first people to report to the police station, the school had not reported yet,” said Cleophas Nchogu, Austine’s father.
The school administration has remained tight lipped on the matter which has raised concerns about students’ safety.
“The school is not explaining where the child is, we have been there since yesterday but haven’t been told anything,” Mercy added.
“It is unfortunate that such a school cannot be able to explain the whereabouts of Austine. From the school we did not get answers and that’s when we came to Matutu Police Station and talked to the OCS and other officers,” said Rebecca Kerubo, Austine’s auntie.
