Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi has vowed to oversight the county's executive, even if his quest has put him at loose ends with Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
Speaking at Maua Town during a public rally, Senator Kathuri said he will not relent to account for every shilling that lands in Meru.
On his part Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi declared his fight against Governor Mwangaza's leadership, accusing her of embezzling county funds.
"We are tired of being governed badly. The money that comes from central government does not go to the residents when it gets to the county government it goes to Kawira," he said.
The Maua Meeting was also used as a platform to publicly launch the process to split Meru County into two Counties; Meru County and Nyambene County which used to be known as Nyambene County Council before the 2010 constitution.
This comes after all Meru MPs, Senator, Woman Rep met this week and anonymously agreed to initiate the process of splitting Meru county.
The journey includes a referendum, which the leaders said they understand and are ready to push to the end.
The leaders also criticized the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) for its continued categorising of Miraa as a drug in Kenya.
Senator Kathuri has vowed to sue the NACADA CEO for going against government efforts to boost Miraa business in and out of the country.
Senator Kathuri announced that he will be tabling a Narcotics Amendment Bill to the Senate next week so as to remove Miraa from the narcotics category in Kenya.
"NACADA is not powerful than our president. Their laws are there to hurt Meru residents," he said.
"I have filed an amendment on the Narcotics Act so that we delist Miraa from being among the prohibited drugs."
