Eastern Bypass to be closed at Kangundo Road junction for 2 months
Kenya
Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a closure of a section of Eastern
Bypass beginning from March 3 to May 3 pending the ongoing road construction.
KURA,
in a statement released on Tuesday, stated that a section of the overpass at
Kangundo road junction would be blocked for motorists beginning of Thursday.
The
authority explained that the move was due to the ongoing upgrade of the bypass
to a dual carriageway that connects Thika Road to Mombasa Road.
“The
Kenya Urban Roads Authority wishes to notify the general public that a section
of the Eastern Bypass at the Kangundo Road junction overpass will be closed for
bridge construction from Thursday 3rd March 2022 to Tuesday 3rd May 2022,” read
the statement.
“This
is due to the ongoing expansion and dualling of the Eastern Bypass. Motorists
heading to Embakasi will be diverted to the slip road below the overpass.”
Road
users are thus implored to exercise caution while approaching the area and also
adhere to traffic guidelines to pave through the busy highway with ease.
“Motorists
and pedestrians are advised to be careful when approaching this section and
strictly follow diversions as guided by the traffic marshals on site,” KURA
noted.
While
reassuring of efficiency in the implementation of projects, the agency called
upon the public to be accommodative in the said duration to enable best
results.
"We
request the public to be patient as we work to improve road safety and enhance
urban mobility," KURA stated.
