Police in Kisumu County are on the manhunt for six armed robbers who staged an early morning daring robbery incident at an M-Pesa shop along Oginga Odinga street, carting away Ksh.850,000 in cash among other valuables.

The 7am incident has left traders along the main Oginga Odinga street in shock as they try to come to terms with the robbery that also left two people injured.

According to a police report, the six thugs who were armed with an AK47 rifle and pistols arrived in an unmarked motorcycle and a saloon car and forced their way into the shop.

The suspects are said to have fired two warning shots and also hit two M-Pesa attendants using the guns’ buttstocks before taking away the cash, phones and laptops.

Police say as a result, David Odhiambo and Grace Mumbi who were were hit on their heads were rushed to the Kisumu County hospital for treatment and are in stable condition.

DCI officers arrived at the scene and collected two spent cartridges as investigations continue to unravel their identities.

However, questions linger on how the thugs succeeded to stage such a daring robbery along the main Oginga Odinga street which has several police officers manning banks.
