Kisumu: Six robbers raid M-Pesa shop, injure two, escape with Ksh.850K

Police in Kisumu County are on the manhunt for six
armed robbers who staged an early morning daring robbery incident at an M-Pesa shop along Oginga Odinga street, carting away Ksh.850,000 in cash among other valuables.
The 7am incident
has left traders along the main Oginga Odinga street in shock as they try to
come to terms with the robbery that
also left two people injured.
According to a
police report, the six thugs who were
armed with an AK47 rifle and pistols arrived in an unmarked motorcycle and a
saloon car and forced their way into the shop.
The suspects are
said to have fired two warning shots and also hit two M-Pesa attendants using the guns’ buttstocks
before taking away the cash, phones and laptops.
Police say as a
result, David Odhiambo and Grace Mumbi who were were hit on their heads were
rushed to the Kisumu County
hospital for treatment and are in stable condition.
DCI officers
arrived at the scene and collected two spent cartridges as investigations
continue to unravel their identities.
However, questions
linger on how the thugs succeeded to stage such a daring robbery along the main
Oginga Odinga street which has several police officers manning banks.
