The Cabinet has approved the prospect of Kenya hosting four new conventions in 2024, reaffirming Nairobi's unrivalled position as the ultimate destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE).

In a despatch on Wednesday, the Cabinet noted that among the eagerly anticipated gatherings are the Sixth Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6), slated to convene dignitaries from across the globe to deliberate on pressing environmental concerns and sustainable solutions.

Further enriching Kenya's calendar of events this year, is the African Minerals Geosciences Centre (AMGC) Policy Organ Meeting, poised to foster critical discussions surrounding responsible resource management and equitable distribution of benefits within Africa's burgeoning extractive industries.

The Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre events will likewise be hosted in Kenya according to the Cabinet alongside the Network of Africa Data Protection Authorities (NADPA) Conference, which will serve as a platform for deliberating on data privacy regulations and best practices.

"Each of these events holds the promise of further enhancing our nation's standing on the international stage. The events are also envisaged to make significant contributions to the transfer of knowledge and skills, as well as the advancement of our extractive industries and our ICT sector," Cabinet said in the despatch.

The Cabinet added that the conventions will be bolstered by Kenya's recent implementation of a Visa-free regime, which has amplified its allure as a prime destination for international gatherings.
