Held from July 22nd to July 26th, 2024 in Mombasa, the conference brought together industry leaders, professionals, and academics from around the world to explore the theme "Unleashing Potential: Shaping the Future of International Professionals in the Blue Space."
Key resolutions included the launch of two new professional courses: the Diploma in Quality Management (DQM) and the Certified Public Finance Manager (CPFM) qualification. These courses, developed in collaboration between KASNEB and the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), aim to equip professionals with essential skills to drive quality improvements and enhance professional development in their respective fields.
The first examinations for the DQM course are scheduled for December 2024, with subsequent exams in April, August, and December annually. Registration for these courses is now open, inviting quality professionals locally and internationally to advance their careers.
The conference aimed to foster collaboration, share insights, and promote the advancement of professional standards across various sectors.
The event was graced by notable attendees including Dr. Margaret Nyakang'o, Kenya's Controller of the Budget; Ms. Esther Ngari, Managing Director of KEBS; and Dr. Nancy N. Muriuki, Board Chair of KASNEB, along with representatives from various professional bodies.
CPA Jane Njogu Macharia, KASNEB Board Member, speaking on behalf of the National Treasury Principal Secretary, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, applauded the initiative and emphasized the State Department's commitment to fostering an environment that supports continuous professional development.
“Through continuous partnerships, we can ensure that our professionals remain at the forefront of their fields, ready to tackle the challenges and seize opportunities that lie ahead,” Macharia stated.
Nicholas Letting, CEO of KASNEB, highlighted that the market-driven courses are designed for upcoming professionals, particularly those in the National Treasury, seeking to enhance their qualifications in public finance management.
Esther Ngari, Managing Director of KEBS, noted that the DQM course fills a significant gap in the country’s quality management education. “This curriculum, structured into Basic, Common, and Core Units, ensures a comprehensive approach to quality management education required in today’s competitive environment,” she said.
The conference underscored the importance of continuous professional development and collaborative efforts to navigate the complexities of the global professional landscape. The "Blue Space" theme challenges professionals to seek out new possibilities and make a significant impact on the international stage.
