President William Ruto begins a five-day development tour of the Coast region on Thursday, with State House saying his itinerary will feature the launch, inspection and handover of projects across the six counties.

Among key engagements, the President is expected to launch an accelerated issuance of title deeds in Mombasa targeting all Coast counties as the government seeks to address long-standing land issues in the region.

In Lamu County, Ruto is scheduled to commission the completed Kizingitini Fish Market in Lamu East Constituency, inspect the Hindi Modern Market in Lamu West and break ground for the construction of the A7 Junction Safirisi–Ndeu road.

He is also expected to launch last-mile electricity projects at Hindi in Lamu West, and at sites in Kwale and Kilifi counties.

In Kwale County, the President is set to launch last-mile electricity projects at Kinango, Lunga Lunga and Diani in Msambweni, and commission the completed Diani Modern Market. He will also break ground for student hostels at Lunga Lunga Technical and Vocational College.

In Kilifi County, Ruto is expected to commission the Mariakani Power Sub-Station in Kaloleni Constituency, launch electricity projects in Malindi town, Ganze, Mariakani and Mjanaheri, and break ground for the Tezo–Kakanjuni road in Kilifi North as well as the upgrade of the Mjanaheri–Ngomeni road in Magarini.

He is also scheduled to lay foundation stones for modern markets in Kaloleni, Ganze and Nyali, and for the construction of Kilifi Stadium in Kilifi town.

In Tana River County, the President is expected to lay the foundation stone for the construction of Garsen Teachers Training College, inspect the Nyali VoK affordable housing project in Mombasa, and break ground for the Minjila Affordable Housing Project in Garsen.

The President’s programme also includes the handover of fishing boats to groups in Malindi as part of efforts to support the blue economy.
