Five Uhuru Highway roundabouts closed for maintenance
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of five roundabouts along the Uhuru Highway.
The roundabouts; Nyayo Stadium, Bunyala, Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue and University Way, will remain closed from today (December 28) to January 1, 2024.
In light of the closure, KeNHA Director General Eng. Kung'u Ndung'u has since urged motorists to exercise caution and adhere to signs while utilizing the route.
"Approach these affected sections with caution as some lanes will be closed and traffic subjected to share lanes and Follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as shall be directed by traffic marshalls and Police on site," he said in a statement seen by Citizen Digital.
On Wednesday, KeNHA similarly announced the temporary closure of a section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass between Lang'ata Interchange and Ngong Interchange.
The closure, which commenced on Wednesday and will run until January 23, 2024, is to allow for the construction and installation of a virtual weighbridge along the route.
"To minimise the traffic disruption, the closure will involve one lane of each carriageway at a time," said KeNHA then.
"Motorists therefore are required to use one lane of each carriageway on both bounds."
