Following the release of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Thursday Morning candidates were given an SMS code from where they could access their results.

CS Machogu said one can send the candidate’s index number followed by the word KCPE to the code 40054 at Ksh. 25 per SMS.

However, after the results were immediately announced, candidates were unable to access their results through the SMS service.

“Dear Customer, the KCPE 2023 results are not available. Kindly try again later after the announcement,” reads the response users got from the SMS service after the release.

Hours later, candidates still couldn’t access the results and early in the afternoon, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) issued an apology saying their system was experiencing technical issues.

“We apologize for the delay in accessing KCPE 2023 results. We will update you once they are available on 40054,” said the exam body.

In the meantime, headteachers have been directed to pick the KCPE results of their respective schools from sub-county education centres and also download and print their students' results from the KNEC online portal (www.knec-portal.ac.ke).
