Body of missing university lecturer found in river
The family through Ebulonga chief Evans Ouya had raised an alarm over their missing kin calling for assistance to trace the whereabouts of Dr Jairus Omuteche who had allegedly disappeared after visiting his farm that borders River Jordan.
Ouya says the three days search in river Jordan ended on Monday evening when divers discovered his body about 15km away, near an intersection, the river makes before entering river Yala.
On the fateful day Omuteche intended to prepare his cowshed. He went for the sticks from his farm that borders River Jordan and failed to return home.
"We could see some fiddles already cut in his farm but one was lying in the flowing river waters. This raised suspicion that the late lecturer could have drowned, hence the family intensified the search efforts in the river before he was discovered for retrieval Monday afternoon," Ebulonga Location chief Evans Ouya stated.
"Luanda detectives have taken up the matter to ascertain the cause of Omuteche's sudden death," he added.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Itando Mission Hospital morgue as police launch investigations into the incident that claimed the life of the university don.
"He is one of the few educationists we have. He also had a fund to sponsor children from humble backgrounds to bring to life their dream to get higher education apart from employing youths from the area to assist him in various development projects he ventured in," Ouya mourned the departed Masinde Muliro University lecturer.
