Two people are
nursing gunshot injuries following a bandit attack in Baragoi, Samburu County.
The two who were
herding their livestock in Ngoroshe area were ambushed by armed bandits who
were targeting to steal their animals.
The residents however
managed to fight back the cattle rustlers before they could make away with the
livestock.
According to Baragoi OCPD
Michael Wachira, the rise in conflicts in the area has been exacerbated by the
ongoing drought that has led to lack of water and pasture for the animals.
The raid comes three
days after heavily armed bandits attacked Ngilai village and killed animals
before abducting Kenya Police Reservist Rupunye Leantuwaki whose whereabouts
remain unknown.
The bandits have intensified
attacks despite tough warnings issued by President William Ruto and Interior
Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
