Tension is high in Sibilo area, Saimo Soi ward after armed bandits laid an ambush last night spraying bullets at locals.

A middle-aged man is nursing serious injuries after he was shot by the bandits at his Sibilo home in Baringo County.

During the night ambush, an unknown number of goats were driven away by the daring bandits. Locals have now fled their homes as the bandits rule with heavy arms.

The attack occurred barely a day after Baringo North MP Joseph Makilap and Baringo Woman Representative Florence Jematia survived death by a whisker as their convoy was sprayed with bullets along Chepkesin area.

The leaders were in the company of Redcross team who were set to distribute relief food to displaced families before the ambush was staged on Saturday.

Tension in the area remains high as locals flee in fear of more attacks. There are also fears that learning might be paralysed as the few existing schools might close.

Over ten schools have now been closed due to insecurity.
