Azimio leaders say won't sign dialogue committee report if it doesn’t address cost of living
A
section of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leaders on Sunday vowed to make
reducing the spiralling cost of living a priority in the national dialogue
committee report that they are set to start writing next week.
Speaking
in Vihiga county, the Azimio brigade in the committee led by Wiper Party leader
Kalonzo Musyoka said they will not even contemplate forwarding the report to Parliament should it fall short of people's expectations.
DAP-Kenya
Party leader Eugene Wamalwa who is equally a member of the national dialogue
committee, vowed not to sign the committee report should it fail to capture
recommendations on how the Kenya Kwanza administration should address the spiralling
cost of living as a matter of urgency.
ODM
Party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi and a host
of other leaders in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition added their voices
to the high cost of living that they said the national dialogue committee must
address.
The
leaders have faulted President William Ruto’s administration for the high cost
of fuel which has had repercussions on the cost of living, together with the
recent arbitrary increase in Immigration and Citizen Services charges that will
see Kenyans pay Ksh.1,000 to get a national identification card.
They
were addressing a rally in Luanda after attending a church fundraiser.
