In a letter dated October 13, 2026, Registrar of Political Parties John Lorionokou said the office had reviewed the party's submitted documents supporting the proposed name change and had commenced the gazettement process under Section 20(1)(d) of the Political Parties Act.
The documents were submitted through a letter dated October 8, 2026, and included a resolution by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) approving the change of name.
Other documents included the notice and signed attendance list of the NEC meeting held on October 8, statutory Form PP.10 and evidence that the proposed name change had been published in the Daily Nation newspaper on October 10 and on the party’s official website.
The Registrar directed the party to submit details of any representations received from the public concerning the proposed name change after the expiry of the mandatory 14-day period following publication in the newspaper.
The party is also required to explain how any representations received have been addressed, in line with Section 20(4) of the Political Parties Act.
The Linda Mwananchi Movement is associated with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Siaya Senator James Orengo, among other leaders.
