Willy Paul denies rape accusations by Diana Marua
Controversial
Kenyan musician Willy Paul has come out to strongly deny rape accusations
levelled against him by singer Diana Marua Bahati, who now goes by the name
Diana B.
In a video
posted on social media on Thursday, Willy Paul claimed the damning allegations
made by Diana Marua were aimed at harming his career, especially following the
hype around his new album, 'The African Experience'.
While Diana
B maintains she has never had an affair with Willy Paul, the 'Sitolia' hit
maker alleges that they had ‘a thing’ years ago, having met her on Instagram
before they exchanged contacts.
He asked
her to come clean, to her fans, and to her husband.
“Tell
people the truth! Tell your husband the truth! Stop telling lies! Why are you
lying? Why are you defaming my name? I have never spoken in so much pain
before,” Willy Paul insists.
He adds: “I
came to pick you at your place in Syokimau. We met on Instagram, you gave me
your number on the platform and met on the same day. Just tell people the
truth. Tell your husband the truth about what went down.”
The latest
comes just a day after Kenyans on social media rallied behind the
#justicefordianamarua hashtag, hours after she released an emotional video in
which she accused the musician of attempted rape.
According
to Diana B, some years back, she met Willy Paul in Syokimau where she was
living. She claims that the singer met her at a movie shop in her neighbourhood
and was touchy, arrogant and stubborn.
"This
boy Willy Paul pursued me for quite a while. There’s this day that I was at a
movie shop, I saw him as he came in, he was being touchy and all that, and he's
telling me a lot of things," Diana said in the video.
Ms. Marua
goes on to claim that Willy Paul asked her to take him to her house, which she
declined as she did not know him that well.
"He
asked me ama tuingie hapa kwa gari tuongee kidogo, and since he was creating a
scene, I went to the car to hear what he is saying," she added.
According
to her, immediately they got inside the car, Willy Paul drove off in a huff and
a flurry of dust. She goes on to say that the musician came on top of her and
started pulling her skirt and even tore her top.
"This
guy was choking me!" Diana said as she fought tears. "I remember this
day as if it was yesterday, I can still feel the shivers in my body."
"Alikuwa
amenishika hivi kwa shingo so that I cannot scream,"
She would
eventually hightail from the car, with her skirt and top torn. She claims to
have been helped by a motorbike guy who took her home.
In a video posted on her channel, Diana says she has reported the matter to the cops and now awaits to meet the musician in court.
