My wives’ drama spoilt my birthday party – Mzee Yusuf

Popular Tanzanian Taarab singer Mzee Yusuf has said he did not celebrate his birthday party on Tuesday, January 5, after his two wives Chiku and Leila engaged in a bitter exchange of words on social media.

Speaking to the country’s Clouds FM, Mzee Yusuf said he wasn’t pleased with his wives’ actions and has threatened to take drastic measures if the two won’t iron out their differences.

“In summary, I do not have a single shred of joy following what happened on my birthday. I am deeply saddened,” said Yusuf.

“What they (wives) are doing is not good before the public. I usually talk to them. I don’t know how they perceive me. Perhaps they are oblivious to the fact that I am their husband; they don’t respect me, especially the one who is always ready for war,” he added.

“Personally, I am sad. I usually urge them to respect their followers on Instagram. My pleas nonetheless fall on deaf ears as one of my wives enjoys engaging the audience in an exchange of words.”

“One day I will do something dire and let none of them blame me,” said Yusuf.

A Source intimated to Citizen Digital that Chiku, the younger wife of Mzee Yusuf, is over-protective of her husband and is jealous of Leila, the elder wife – to an extent of not allowing Mzee Yusuf to spend time with her co-wife.

“Whenever Chiku takes a picture with Mzee Yusuf, she (Chiku) will spam her social media pages with the photos and claim she is loved more; and when followers differ with her, she will threaten to block them from seeing her social media updates; which she occasionally does,” said the source.

“On different instances she has engaged the first wife in a tart social media fight,” added the insider.

Mzee Yusuf’s popular songs include Bata, Nipe Nikupe, Wasiwasi Wako among others.
