Muthoni Drummer Queen opens up keeping her pregnancy journey private
The cultural entrepreneur explained that as a well-known celebrity, she was well aware that her pregnancy would become a news story, so she chose to keep this aspect of her life private.
Even though she signed up for all aspects of fame, her loved ones did not, according to the first-time mother.
“As a performer and all around creative, my entire life is a news item; it’s part of the package. So, I grab privacy where I can get it. That is why I keep certain aspects of my life private. The limelight also has really dark side to it and though I signed up to this, my loved ones haven’t. This crown is heavier than it looks but I have a really supportive network of family and friends, who respected my wishes and walked with me through it all,” said Muthoni drummer queen during an interview with Nation, Sunday.
She went on to say that she didn't want to diminish the loss and grief that the Covid-19 pandemic had caused most people.
She pointed out that the situation would have been different if the year had been free of Covid.
“Also it was a horrible year in terms of loss and grief, so it felt obscene or vulgar, somewhat, to make a big statement in the middle of everyone’s suffering. Maybe if it was a business-as-usual year this would have gone differently,” Muthoni said.
'It is the best feeling in the world, and I wouldn't trade it for the world; I am literally in heaven,' Muthoni said of motherhood.
Muthoni only revealed her pregnancy a few days before giving birth.
